James Goodwin is quite a new face in the international Blues and Boogie Woogie piano scene. He is from England, and he has lost his heart to the down-to-earth Barrelhouse Blues numbers which are hardly ever performed live with such authenticity. Texas piano stylings, such as by Hersal Thomas or Robert Shaw, are seldomly heard, but they were the roots of the Boogie Woogie as it’s known today. James plays this music with great devotion, but he can also play his own brilliant, rolling Boogie tunes. He is another example how Blues and Boogie Woogie piano can captivate and inspire younger musicians.
