Martin Pyrker
The doyen of the Austrian Boogie Woogie and Blues pianists has a friendship with Vince Weber and Axel Zwingenberger since the early 1970s, as well as with Hans-Georg Moeller, who unfortunately died much too early in 1980. These four pianists staged the first great European concert which was exclusively devoted to Boogie Woogie and Blues piano, at the Konzerthaus in Vienna in 1976. Martin’s very personal style is influenced by the music of Blind John Davis, Jimmy Yancey and Montana Taylor, but not the least also by Hans-Georg Moeller. He has a very clear touch which wins him the hearts of the audience. Since several years, he often performs together with his daughter, drummer Sabine Pyrker.
